QUEUE MADNESS

Post by morenangpinay » Thu, 27 Jun 2013 12:59 pm

Can't believe there's a queue for the hello kitty plush toy. I understand if people collect them but to queue overnight?? OMG

I used to work down at Raffles Place and there would be queues around the block every day for something or other, however trivial or value-less.

One could joke about people joining a queue, simply because of a fear of 'losing out', but you might not be that far wrong... :???:

I'm not sure which is worse: This or the time when IKEA had meatball promotion.

IKEA meatballs?

2 thumbs up!

(I was going to say, meatballs, yum, I'll have two please, but that sounds wrong)

325,000 meatballs between the two outlets. What a madhouse!

The fights have already started again, apparently.

The last time a decade ago....

I think it was Malcolm McLaren/Sex Pistols who first coined this faux-riot/controversy...

p.s. Love the vid
Reminds me of someone, some local cina bird, writing in to the New Paper c95 bitching like fury over KFC not having her immediate precise choice of 'Spicy' over 'Crispy' chicken pieces.... like the world had ended.

I sent in a reply (which got published) re: how shallow some people here are...

Why would anyone want one? The ugly little furbags.

I find this stuff incomprehensible. It's up there with being asked if I wanted to be a a member for $88 to get 10% off a pair of $70 shorts. Seriously? You're shitting me, right?

.... and then we go back to the lavish and legendary (New Paper) front page/full page headline....

'Expats go Wild!'

That I got screen-printed up into T-shirts...

ah, those were the days... ;

....p.s. Hannie you'd have loved em mate.

Admittedly such a t shirt would give people warning but I certainly need no encouragement. My husband would put me on lockdown.

I've heard that they gave out coupons and they had all be taken up early on while still in the initial queues.

And this is precisely what happened in the 'Expats go wild' story from 20 years ago.

Sell say 500 people $50 'all you you can drink' tickets to a New Years Eve party on Sentosa.

Run out of booze after an hour, by 8pm.

Cue: '''Riot'''

p.s. I wish I could find the paper (I have it in storage at home somewhere)... It's like
-------------------------------------------
'Expats go wild!' [2/3 page, on a yellow background!]
- Break statue
- One needs first aid'
-------------------------------------------

SO.... 'just, non-story'! :-D
