Teaching at an International School in Singapore

Post by Kyriakip » Thu, 13 Jun 2013 11:16 am

I am planning on getting a Masters in Education (elementary school) from an On-Line program (American University). Once I get this Masters Degree (with no teaching experience) how difficult will it be for me to get a job teaching at an International School in Singapore? Thank you! I really appreciate your help :-)

International schools only hire teachers with experience.
Furthermore, part-time or distance learning degrees are not recognised by the Singapore government, so you'll have problems getting a visa.

Beppi is not quite right. You might be able to find work in International Schools but not in Singapore. I have a niece who only has a BA and no experience teaching in India in an International School and another friend with a PDH and LLB teaching in Thailand in an International school who has no teaching experience.

If you can get state certification that will help a lot (i.e. Texas or Western Australia etc teaching license).

Look up ISS - they place international teachers. Also check the international school websites - lots of ads there that will be you an idea.
