I have never paid asking price, to be honest and the market is a renters market just now if they insist on the same rent their neighbor got 2 months ago then I'll move on, let it stay vacant.

I just rented a place and took 15% off the asking price, 5% is BS it's hardly even a discount, stop being a nob JR8, it's not helping the OP...

I am sure when the new properties in Singapore TOP in the coming 12 months then property prices for "older" condos will drop again slightly, thing is, property availability is about to very much outweigh the immigration (lets face it, only the foreigners rent properties here!) when that happens all the owners will be clamoring for tenants.

next time you'll get it cheaper - consider this lesson learnt ;)

Just want to pipe in and say that Kembangan is a great spot; one of the best Roti Pratas in the East, and probably the best Roti John in Singapore is at right there at Raimah eating house, across from the park. It is where the photo of my breakfast came from the other day. :)

KVDM, it's called The Trumps.
So far we really like it. The proximity to the MRT is fantastic, and the local resturants are great.
Hawker centers 1 stop either direction on MRT, and large grocery shopping at Bedok.
There is a tiny fairprice within walking distance, but it only really has the essentials.
My son is also 5. The pool is great for him and the park across the street is great for riding his bike or scooter. The bus ride to SAIS is not terrible and so far he loves it there.
There are many other expat families there with children around that age.
If the Trump doesn't work out for you, the Astoria is on the other side of the MRT. We looked there as well. Same price range, but a bit older. It was a toss up between the 2.
Feel free to ask me anything else.

zzm9980, we JUST found that place last week and it is fantastic!

Go at night and check the noise levels of all three.
