Hi everyone,
I have recently moved to singapore and have a few pieces of leased furniture to keep me going until I pick up some stuff for the apartment. I decided to have a look on Gumtree/Ebay/Craigslist/SingExpats as I figured with the amount of people moving in and out on a few year's rotation there must be a great deal of 'nearly new' furniture/TVs etc...but it seems pretty sparse!!
I don't know if it's not the done thing here or I'm looking in the wrong places... I'm used to the UK where people will sell pretty much anything and there is a lot of second hand places and ebay is stuffed full. I know I can nip to IKEA and get the lot in one swoop but I just like a wander and a bargain
Any thoughts?

Just keep out for 'garage sales' or 'whole house sales' on gumtree. Often expats will have a clearout - not just on the one weekend but will list all their furniture in the one ad and you can contact them about specific pieces. Otherwise there is 'expat auctions' which is good but not as good as once was. It was great during the GFC when lots of expats were leaving but now seems to be mostly furniture from india and indonesia specifically bought to be sold at auction. Ebay does not really work here. Best just to keep to gumtree or craiglist (craiglist not so good but still some movement). Be patient cause there are often expat house clearances advertised on Gumtree and you can get some great bargains and some brilliant furniture.

Check out the noticeboards at the supermarkets. Look for moving out sales. Get on to facebook and search for 'singapore expat...' and there will be a range of classifieds, expat women etc. pages that come up. People are giving things away for good prices just to get rid of them. If you have kids (or don't) the noticeboards at mothers stores tend to be well visited by moving out expats.

Never heard of this brand.
I just get adult size tables and chairs because they grow out too fast, waste of money to buy kids sizes.

I’m not sure that’s a thing here, unless you hire an interior designer and have them furnish your house for you.
