i need your guidance/advice, since cannot afford lawyers . am on verge of bankrupcy all thks to the 2 casinos. i have some questions. appreciate your response.
1) my ep is gonna expired by end of this year. if i am declared bankrupt. will this affect my ep renewal status.
2) if say worst case , my ep is not able to be renewed , which means i will have to leave SG, but since i am serving bankrupcy i understand i cannot leave SG. wht will happen in such a case , will i be jailed. i cannot pay since no job , but cannot leave country as well.
3) if say i leave SG as it is , will i be declared an offender. will i be able to enter sg a) as tourist. b) for work . say later.
4) if say i leave SG, will the bank authorities file legal case in my home country.
pls help!! i am stressed. its not that i dont want to pay , but i.m not in condition to pay.
@Wd40Wd40 wrote:I dont see any evidence anywhere, that says that your EP wont be renewed if you are bankrupt. Its only your employer shouldn't be bankrupt. Also I dont think there is anyway (by mentioning in the EP renewal form, or by any other means) you can communicate to MoM regarding your bankruptcy status.
Also I dont see any reason/logic why they should deny EP to person who is bankrupt.
Hence, as far as my best judgement, there shouldnt be a problem with your EP renewal.
The right thing to do would be just go with the flow, approach agencies that help with credit counselling etc and get their options. If bankruptcy is the only way, so be it.
If you decide to do a runner, then you can kiss your chance of ever coming to Singapore, good bye. Whether banks will take legal action in your home country, depends on the amount and also the bank in question may be, who knows.
If you home country is a developing country like India(you definitely sound like an Indian), chances are you may not get into trouble. But I have heard a case of a person who took loan in Singapore, did a runner to India and then later he went to Australia for work and he was caught there

Can you provide me the link to that form?samir767 wrote:@Wd40Wd40 wrote:I dont see any evidence anywhere, that says that your EP wont be renewed if you are bankrupt. in the EP application form you have a column where you mention u are bankrupt or not. i.m not worried abt bankrupcy , infact i need to be facing this considering my past deeds, but my main question remains unanswered which is my worry, if i am bankrupt and my ep is rejected will i be able to leave SG or not. i understand that u cannot leave SG when bkrpt , but at same time i have no ep so how can i stay in SG. will i be jailed in that instance. pls advice. thks!!
unlike dubai, you won't be imprisoned. i doubt they can hold your passport and keep you in singapore if you are declared B. it's a diff'rent story for singaporean passport holders however.samir767 wrote: .... but my main question remains unanswered which is my worry, if i am bankrupt and my ep is rejected will i be able to leave SG or not. i understand that u cannot leave SG when bkrpt , but at same time i have no ep so how can i stay in SG. will i be jailed in that instance. pls advice. thks!!
@Wd40, yes you are right . in the form section 8 talks abt being deported out , or tried in court , but dosent talk about being a bankrupt. i made a mistake on this. thks for correcting.Wd40 wrote:Can you provide me the link to that form?samir767 wrote:@Wd40Wd40 wrote:I dont see any evidence anywhere, that says that your EP wont be renewed if you are bankrupt. It is the opposite because none of us really know, since I'm guessing there aren't a lot of bankrupt expats here.samir767 wrote: your response is totally opposite to what @Wd40 has stated . i am even more confused now.
