Which ferry to Batam is best?

Post by BedokAmerican » Thu, 30 May 2013 2:38 pm

There's the Batam Fast Ferry, Sindo Ferry, Holiday City Ferry & Prima Ferries (and there could be others) Which one do you recommend?

I'm thinking of going for a day trip in a few weeks. Thanks.

They're all roughly the same, depends if you want to go to Batam Center or Harbor Bay.

Batam Center is a bit remote, but it is where the big outlet (junk) mall is.

Harbor Bay is more in the middle of the "city" and what passes for night life if you're going there for that. It's also closer to Nagoya Hills ("upscale"), Harbor Bay (expat focused development "in the city"), and Kampung Bule (Girl bars if the name didn't give it away).

If you want the 'city', I prefer Harbor Bay. If you want just the outlet mall, golfing, or one of the remote resorts, Batam Center is OK.

Dunno, used Pacific Ferry this weekend. It didn't sink, so I'm happy.

Ok, thanks for the info. Hopefully whatever ferry I pick won't sink.

It sounds like Harbor Bay might be the better destination option because it seems like there's more to do there. I've got nothing against shopping, I just don't like being hassled by vendors trying to sell me everything under the sun.

I wouldn’t have thought it possible to easily make trips to Batam during these Covid times… how did you manage that?

Same same curios also. I miss my free and easy trips. Don Don Donki occupies part if Vivo ferry terminal now. Every ferry desk is closed.

emmklise31 (from the first post I checked the IP addy) has a pong to it definitely, but the problem is it's a local IP addy, not our normal suspects and usually the only infractions we get from local addys are the occasional advertiser, child, or resident trolls. I've been watching this one and I'm pretty sure while it's a local IP address, I don't think it is originating from here but probably via proxy. A search on the name turns up on only one English site (this one) all the rest turn up Eastern European forums. As emmklise31 hasn't responded in several days and all three posts were on the same day as registration in a spread of 8 minutes ......

I checked the 3 posts made by the user and they're not selling anything. So who cares where their IP is located?

I’m more interested to understand the motivation behind these intrusions… is it really worth it for them to get some kind of foothold in this forum? Even if they are advertising, do they really manage to sell anything? I also wonder if it might be a bot of some kind - using a type of AI algorithm to generate seemingly relevant comments but not quite… I know such technology exists, it existed even 20 years ago. But the thing that puzzles me to no end is why.

I don't think the AI technology exists to create such atrocious grammar and humanly weird yet topical content as emmklise31's post above :)
