Back in the 90s, one of the crooners from The Commodores was married to local singer Anita Sarawak. They were married, but he had not converted to become a muslim [gosh, I wonder why].

The Commodores were off on tour KL-way and said Commodores crooner got arrested for khalwat ('close proximity'). This was all over the papers first time I was in country.... how bllnking sad...

So just do ROM and that's it. Wedding dinner is probably less of the religious more family ceremony so you should be fine with your father too.
Later you just remember to take precautions if in Muslim country and not to advertise around that you are a mixed couple.
If you want to be always on a safe side, you have to convert to Islam and follow the proper Muslim wedding ceremony.
Your wife to be converting to Buddhism, I don't think it will change much comparing to just having ROM.

Morning x9200,

ok thanks.

What about, can she stay with me after ROM? My total pay is 2450 per moth.

If she has MOM's permission to marry you, and she is able to get LTVP on her own before ROM, yes.

If no permission from MOM, no wedding.

If she has MOM's permission but she can't get LTVP/PR before ROM, she has to remain on her current work permit and also live with her employer (because that's her address) after ROM until it expires. After it expires, if she still can't get LTVP or PR, she has to leave Singapore and you need to move with her back to Indonesia if you want to be with her. If you're moving with her back to Indonesia, you will have to worry about your status as Muslim/non-Muslim married to a Muslim in Indonesia law.

Think it through. Is it worth it?

I guess you have no other choice but to try, and wait if rejected and try again. Salary is not the only problem, there is also the mentioned earlier marriage of convenience thing so hope for good but prepare to wait and look around for a better paid job perhaps.

Yes. But no guarantee, with your salary and her profile. Not even your neighbourhood MP can help you in this.

Gah, I made a mistake. She can only apply AFTER ROM with his sponsorship as her spouse.

I am not sure how it goes with the name change in your culture but if your future wife changes her name to yours so she will be Mrs Wee after the ROM ceremony and few good years later she hopefully become SC and have her passport under new name then I guess you can go anywhere you want. Just need to be careful and keep your mouths shut about the fact that in the eyes of Islam you are not legally married.
Till than you should probably avoid some obvious situations like sleeping together in a single hotel room in the said countries etc.

Moslems cannot be close in that way to non-Moslems. So if she has a Chinese name and you go to an Islamic state and tell nobody she is/was Moslem then you'll be fine. Here will be fine.
