House painting service?

Post by Cecile29 » Sun, 26 May 2013 7:55 pm

Hi everyone, we are moving to Sg mid July. Really can't wait! Pls can anyone recommend a trustworthy, honest and reliable house painting service? We found our house but just want to remove wallpapers and repaint 2 bedrooms. There are names of painting companies on this website but really don't know which one to call! Pls any recommendation would be appreciated! Also do you know how much will it cost and how long will it take? Like a day to do the 2 bedrooms? How long to dry and how abt the smell? Thx very much, regards, Cecile

Friendly warning. Any 1-5 post or freshly registered member who is going to recommend any company will have her or his account immediately locked.

Cecile, weird question. You are being watched too.

Hi x9200/moderator,
Oops sorry, really didn't want to harm anyone or this forum.
Pls how can a member reply to me on this forum? Can't they recommend a house painting company? Is it forbidden? I didn't know abt that, sorry again.
I didn't know it was a strange question.
Anyway: how can I formulate the question? Do members have to reply me to me via my personal email? Can they or not pls? Sorry I don't want to be removed as its just my 1st post and I just want someone from this resourceful forum to help me find a painting company. Can I give my personal email on this forum? How does it work? Thx very much. And sorry again. Cecile

Hello, Cecile, welcome.

Sometimes people join just to advertise, sometimes people ask questions then make a second id to advertise then answer themselves.

The Homestore which you find in malls advertises this service. Maybe a bit more comeback if it's not great work. They do Nippon paint and make custom tins so a wide range. Off the top of my head I think the flyer I had last week said $400 a room but I might have read it incorrectly, all of the stores have a price list near the till.

I don't know how long it takes to dry but my LL used Nippon and the smell wasn't too bad.

I would ask your landlord to recommend a decorator: That would likely be a good tip, and hopefully also gain landlord buy-in, and a sense of positive involvement.

Picking some random contractor of your own, to do a bad job that the landlord has not asked for, is a recipe for disaster IMHO...

Hi, my landlord doesn't know sadly, that's why I'm asking here. They never needed to use one. And as we are moving in and we don't like the colors of 2 bedrooms we just want to find a company that comes and does the job.
Nippon paint is it organic? I will google it.
Thx.

Can a member send me a private reply abt a company to my personal email? Is it allowed here to give your personal email? Thx.

Are you really incapable of painting a room or two yourself!?

Not being funny, but if this is so hard to arrange, Can't you just do it yourself in a day or two?

p.s. example: you can do a say 12*8' bedroom and ceiling a first coat in about 4 odd hours using a roller. Give it a day to dry. Second coat will be about 3 odd hours. ...

JR8

Considering she isn't here yet but still in China, I would say she will probably have a lot more on her plate when she arrives here, than just having to paint bedrooms. I know I would.

It's not wise to put you email address on the open forum Cecile29, as it will be picked up by spambots email harvesters and then you will end up with unknown quantities of spam in your inbox. Members can recommend on the open board, but we also try to avoid having unsolicited hustlers who have financial interests in the companies they are recommending (that advertising which is not allowed). It's for the reader's benefit that we are stringent that way.

Hi JR8, unfortunately I don't know how to paint! It looks very easy the way you describe it! How can u choose the brush/paint? I hv No idea! We are still in Shanghai so can't do it. I need to find a way to it before our move.
Ill google and see what kind of organic paint I can find in Sg.

I'll need to ask the admin of this forum f I can post my personal email. If so then I hope someone could reply directly to me and give me some answers. Cheers!

Typically people first come here and later try to arrange things like that the whole rental included, plus also typically the LLs have no problem with arranging it. This, plus what Hannieroo said, set the warning flags, but with few more posts you look pretty genuine now so warm welcome also from myself :)

Unfortunately I don't know anybody to recommend.

What kind of property is this? If HDB they supposed to have some approved contractors list if I am not mistaken.
If this is a condo, the management may know some contractors or be able to offer this kind of services by their team but this may not be the most cost effective option.

Hi x9200,
Thx for welcoming me on the forum!

Ok i googled and found a couple of them, so will will call them and Im sure all is going to be ok!

The property is a house in the centre area. My LL has no clue abt this stuff bcz he didnt have any pb before. Its just we dont have the same taste regarding the interior design. I'll ask the management office to help me as well. All good Im sure!

Thx everyone!

Look forward to moving to Sg!
