GST refund for expats in Singapore

Post by Soren_H » Sun, 26 May 2013 7:12 pm

Hi All,

A stupid question - I understand that GST is levied on the supply of goods and services in SG at 7%. Is it possible to claim the GST refund if you are an employment pass holder?

Thanks!

Soren

No. The EP holders are residents and residents have to pay the GST.
Only Tourists can claim the GST refund.

I think it is solely for tourists and not for people resident here.

GST refund even on long term pass!

Post by landeni » Tue, 27 Aug 2013 11:21 pm

Hold on - I heard some people who are long term pass holders and still collect GST refund on their travels out of Singapore. Normally one needs to show your white entry card (which of course long term pass holders don't have), but with the automated kiosks, they only check the passport and your entry date, if its less then 30 days, one can collect. Not sure if its a flaw or legal, but seems to work fine.,,
