Well, inspite of closing the slot, yesterday I found large pamphlets, one from courts and one from BHG in the letter box.

Surely there is no way they could have been slipped from the slot. My wife was actually telling me the Singpost lady who operates the master key and opens from the rear, also puts these brochures along with regular mail.

I guess, its still better, atleast no more property agent handouts

Some advertisers engage Singpost to deliver brochures, yes, it's correct.

Not entirely true. You can register with Singpost not to receive admail. THey paste a small no admail sticker on the post box to notify the postie.
