Hi All,
This has been asked many times and i have pretty much read all the posts. i am just trying to make my mind and any help is appreciated.
I am making 20lakhs in India ( 47k SGD ) per year. i have got an offer of 84k SGD which to me look ok ( not great, not bad). would it make sense to relocate for this increase? I want to save, plus have a better life for me and my wife. thanks.

Doesnt make sense. You will save the same amount of money as in India, but your life will be severely downgraded. Only thing you will gain, is safety, clean public places.
If I were you I wont make the move. You need to make atleast 100k, if you want good life and savings in Singapore.

Makes sense...thanks WD...unfortunately the opportunities are few and far in between.

I started looking in march and this is the 1st offer....
Would it make sense to think this as a platform to reach Singapore and move to better opportunities in due course of time...just thinking the pros and cons....again, thanks for ur valuable input....btw, i think i am going to skip this one after ur comment....we do not want life to be severely degraded...the whole point of moving is to get better life for family and save for future.

Singapore is pretty much trying to close its door to foreigners, try a better country.
If you are really motivated to move out of India and come to Singapore, then you can consider this offer and its true that its easier to find a job while in the country than remotely.
Do lots of research on the cost of living here and compare with your cost back home and savings and then decide. Everybody's situation and needs are different and may be you can make it work with S$84k. My previous comment was on the face value of the salaries you mentioned.
Do let me know if you have specific questions. I am from Bangalore, India so I know how exactly things compare between the 2 places.

did a lot of research on cost of living and IT IS expensive....that's why not entirely sure...10k/pm is what i would want...in one of the earlier opportunities i asked for 10k and they did not come back

....let's see what UPARWALA has in store for me...cheers buddy...will buy u a beer if i come there.

I am assuming you are from IT, S$10k is a bit hard to come by, only couple of banks are hiring and can pay that salary for permanent roles at the lead level, hard to come by.
Quite a few colleagues from my previous company in Bangalore have moved to New Zealand, they got work visa sponsored while in Bangalore. Looks like NZ is opening up. Maybe some other countries as well. Good luck!

I personally dont have any contacts. Update your profile in Linked In and Naukri.com and then other countries job boards like seek.com.au, seek.com.nz etc.

Certs mean nothing without experience to back it up. But good experience with those certs is nice.
