Applying LTVP for parent - need advice
Applying LTVP for parent - need advice
Hi,
My husband is a PR and I am on EP (P2 at 7000 SGD per month-closer to the P1 starting range).
We need to apply for LTVP for my mother. Now:
PR husband cannot apply for parent-in-law.
P2 holder cannot apply for parent (P1 holders at 8000 SGD per month or above are eligible to apply for parents).
But, we feel together as a family we should be able to support my mom for a year or so.
Could you please advise how I should go about requesting for a LTVP for my mom for a year.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry honey, as much honourable is your filial piety, the rule remains the same to all. There is no loophole, otherwise you will see tens of thousands of P2 or Q holders (heck, even S Pass) thronging MOM to beg for the same leeway.Changes to Dependant Privileges for Work Pass Holders
The Government is tightening the criteria for work pass holders to sponsor dependants as part of the overall direction to moderate the growth of Singapore’s non-resident population. This will help ease the pressure on our social infrastructure. Nonetheless, Singapore remains a global talent capital. We continue to welcome highly skilled foreign professionals who wish to bring their dependants to stay with them.
The changes, from 1 September 2012 are as follows:
S Pass and Employment Pass (EP) holders need to earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $4,000 to sponsor the stay of their spouses and children here.
P1 Pass holders will no longer be able to bring in their parents-in-law. They may still bring in their parents, spouses and children.
P2 Pass holders will no longer be able to bring in their parents or parents-in-law. They may still bring in their spouses and children.
Dependants of EP and S Pass holders who are in Singapore by 1 September 2012 will be allowed to stay in Singapore if these work pass holders have valid passes with their existing employers. For more information, please refer to our FAQs.
I hope you get your salary increased to P1 so that you can do that. For now, you have to look into hiring a nanny in your home country for your mom, or put her up in retirement village/nursing home, or enlist a help of a relative to take care of her. Take it as something temporary until you hit P1 to be able to do that.

or you can walk over to ICA and do a manual submission, pay the 30$ and pray .. just my 2 cents ..the lynx wrote: ....
When you do manual submission, sometimes the officer does see beyond the published T&Cs

not at all ... not at all ..sundaymorningstaple wrote:ICA is going to get you, squirrel. You are deliberately increasing their workload for a lost cause. Beware, the future.......![]()
Worst case the officer at the entrance will do a quick yes-no .. no workload increase ..
if it managed to slip by the Officer at the entrance (Not the receptionists, I meant the ICA officers .. ) well, it may deserve a look-see by the inner ring ..

And when they are asked why they are doing so, they will say they were told to do so by the squirrel on SE! Then they will come asking for Squirrels IP addy & email. Bye-bye squirrel.

After all, you know how it is here, one little thought of a loophole and 16K subcontinentals all attempt to exploit it within hours!

SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
well .. If somebody is dense enough to insist at ICA that Mr X of Forum Y said so and so .. and demand the application be accepted .. I am speechless ..sundaymorningstaple wrote:And when they are asked why they are doing so, they will say they were told to do so by the squirrel on SE!
