Hello,
We are a couple in mid 30's and are moving from SG to UK. Can some one recommend a good reliable moving company? We have had quotations from Allied Pickford, ClassicMoving, AstroMovers and Oxford, but are not sure about their quality or if there are other companies we should contact. Any advice is highly appreciated!

Used Allied Pickfords when moving from the UK to Singapore and they were very good. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Everything was stress free, well managed, stuff well packed and out of the whole container load the only breakage was one old wine glass!

You can find comparative search engines re: this question, on the web.
I've used Pickfords (2*?), Crown (2-3 times?)). There are 5 or so big international movers active in SG, and many smaller ones, that you will find easily with a web-search.
Keep in mind that a mover here, might inter-link with another one at your destination, where the former do not have a local presence.

We are contacting Pickfords. Many thanks! A search on "Crown" in this forum indicates that their service is not to the standard.

Let me tell you about the fast one that Allied Pickfords tried to pull on me.
I decided to sell most everything so I had less than a container load to take back. For less than a container, AP packs goods into wooden "vans" that have an exterior dimension of about 260 cubic feet. Four of them fit into a standard 20 foot container. They have an interior volume of about 230 cubic feet.
My final pack volume was 322 cubic feet. So, it took all of one van and about half of the other. They based there charges on an estimated packed volume of 350 cubic feet. Here's the kicker: Even though the contract clearly states, “Final charges will be based on the actual volume of the shipment" they sent me a bill for the additional empty space in the second van.
It took multiple emails and conversations to get them to back off, and even though they had the actual volume clause in their contract, they would not refund me for the 350 cubic feet I had paid for.
Make sure you have absolute clarity on what volumes you will be paying for.
