Greetings:
I am moving to Singapore to commence work on 6/17/2013. I will arrive in Singapore on 5/28 looking for places to rent starting 6/1.
My question:
I have heard that usually, places that are due to move on 6/1 are already gone by 5/28.
Is it common to have a move-in date that is does not start on the first?
Any advises would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Very common. I have never moved in on a first. In any case, the contract will state the start date, and that is the day that you have to pay your rent every month.
