PR Application Query

Post by rmazza » Mon, 06 May 2013 10:37 am

Hi,

I've just registered on the forum but have been following on and off for a while now. My wife and I want to apply for a PR, but are unsure as to when the best time may be. Details are:

Me
Education: BSc Computer Science Degree, respected UK university
Salary: 135K PA (base), on PEP Pass since arrival
Total work exp: 7.5 years (Banking, IT)
Work exp in Singapore: 1.5 years (Banking, IT)
Race: White. British
Age: 30 years

Wife
Education: BSc Finance Degree, respected UK university
Salary: 90K PA (base), on PEP Pass since arrival (but only started work 2mnths after arrival)
Total work exp: 7.5 years (Accounting)
Work exp in Singapore: 1.25 years (Banking, Accounting)
Race: Malaysian Chinese
Age: 30 years

We have been Married two years, and originally thought that we would apply for PR this coming November (so its around two years since arriving). Wife is now due to give birth end Oct.

Questions I would have:

- Is it usually best to apply together or individually? Guess as wife is Malaysian Chinese may be best for her to apply first (i.e. now)?
- Is it best to wait until baby comes (all being well!) and apply as family?
- Does anyone know if she applies for PR while on maternity leave if that has any bearing on the application?

Thanks for any help in advance!

From what I know , it is best to apply as a family as it signifies intention to settle. Also it may be better to include the baby in the application because even if you both are approved, there is no guarantee that your baby will be approved later on (like in my case, my daughter is still on LTVSP as her PR application was rejected).

I would say just apply in November as planned with the baby. If it's a boy, it'll be a big boost for you. And even if not, the added time will only help your application.

+1 to zzm9980. I would agree with what he has said here.
