Tampines is now the Dengue capital of Singapore, with the issue arising around the areas where MRT lines are under construction.

Are the building sites monitored as closely as the living areas?

I have friends who have been busted 3 times by the Dengue Police.

Yes construction sites are heavily monitored. Fines can go up to a whooping thousands of dollars.

So how, despite all these measures. Why are the gubment failing?

I've been to construction sites before. It is right that the government should fine 10 times the amount of fine they issue to residents. Some of the construction sites have poor housekeeping! I wonder why NEA does not inspect them even more regularly.

My son is heading to the hospital at the moment, two days of erratic temps and aching joints, but no sniffles or flu symptoms. Our area has had some dengue hot spots recently as well, so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

JR8, update on KC. Just a bad bug. He doesn't usually get it too bad but this time it whacked him for the better part of a week. But he back to his old schedule again and is officially a short-timer. Finished his NS in 12 more days. He rather happy to say the least.

Phew! [Drama Queen! ]

p.s. Has he made himself a 'short-timer' stick, or isn't that a SGn thing?

I've not asked, but I'm sure they have some way of marking time. Heck, I'm lucky to see him once a week.

As we have feared, first dengue fatality in Singapore. Just released one hour ago so no info yet. I wonder if it is the hemorrhagic version.

And blimey! 8000 cases! That's more than 2011 And 2012 totals combined at this half of the year alone.
