LTVP+ for Ex-PR

Post by gtwm » Fri, 22 Mar 2013 7:43 am

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there was any cases where an Ex-PR (dropped PR when 16 - by parents choice, not mine - to pursue overseas study & therefore, not serving NS) has anyone ever got approval for LTVP+ (so that the applicant can work) & my chances for successful application.

I know that there's a 'blacklist' for ex-PRs against ever working in SG again, as my brother can attest to it (failed S Pass application)- but he wasn't married to a Singaporean!

Short background:
- Married to SC (roughly about a year+)
- both currently living overseas
- no kids... yet.. with every intention to..
- wanting to relocate to SG for the her!

Thanks if there's input!!

Gaz....

When you say you didn't do NS, does that means you got out of NS but following the numbers according to the rules, or are you a defaulter who did not return to Singapore? If so, do you still have Singapore citizenship (according to the Singapore Government?) If you have been allowed to legally renounce, then yes, in principle, you can return, get an LTVP+ and find a job. However, while you might be legally entitled to try, that doesn't mean the gahment will grant you any special favours and any type of residency would be considered a favour.

Good Luck. If you are a NS defaulter, I would even bother trying to return to Singapore, truth be known.

To respond to that, i did get the initial enlistment letter for NS, however, I was already overseas at this point. I'm an Australian - so I went to Canberra to formally renounce my PR in Canberra (no questions asked).

Would this be the definition as a NS defaulter?

Yes.

There is a difference between Defaulter and Deserter. Deserter you can be jailed for, Defaulter just means you are no longer welcome here because you used the socio-economic benefits of Singapore but bailed on the quid pro quo. They have a very long memory.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses, i just wanted to update - well for anyone in a similar situation. My wife and I indeed proceeded to apply for the LTVP+ , with one minor tweak which was that my wife is a few months pregnant. The IPA letter came in yesterday. So to all those NS defaulters (you guys know who you are!) there might be a slight chance after all.

I guess my next question, does anyone know if you receive the LTVP pass on the day of your appointment (for doco verification)? Or do you have to wait a few days before everything is processed?

do u mean they approved the LTVP instead of LTVP+ for your wife(Ex-pr) ?? u are SC ? u must be at least 3years married with your wife only will consider LTVP+ , or having 1 SC child.
