Hello, I am a U.S. citizen and beginning to asses permanent residency options. Could you please recommend any immigration lawyers? Appreciate your response.

ICA has no published/transparent guidelines on why a PR is accepted or rejected. Even members of parliament have not been given full access so your lawyer is only likely to waste your time and money. No lawyer is in any position to assist you with the outcome of the application.
Please don't go to ICA with a lawyer. It takes NO assistance to speak the truth and the truth is what ICA wants to know. Their decision when based on facts is a mystery to all including any self styled immigration lawyer. Smoking on the application on the other had usually gets a swift rejection as ICA has a lot of experience with this.
The PR application process is very straight forward and free. You do need to take an appointment over the Internet and the current waiting time is few months. So suggest you take the appointment first and then put the documents together.
