PR Application

Post by green2 » Sun, 10 Mar 2013 11:04 am

Hello.

Female, Malaysian Chinese, Single, Straight
Age: 30
BA degree
Industry: IT, MNC
Annual income: ~110k
5 years in SG (excluding a period of 2 years in between; away for work)
Income tax paid: 4 cycles (on previous salary band)
Back in SG mid 2012. Applied for PR after 3 months, got rejected after 1 mth, asked to reapply in March 2013.

Should I take the advice to apply now? Or wait till I've paid another (more recent) round of taxes?

Any advice on the chances of success? And how can I demonstrate that I'm integrated in the SG community etc?

Thanks!

I'd say that the ICA asking to reapply in March 2013 is a very good sign and you should follow their advice. Possibly they wanted to see whether you were going to remain in Singapore or move away again, so the fact that you've stayed here has to count in your favour. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that all the evidence shows you have the preferred 'attributes' for PR approval these days.

Good luck and please post an update when you know the outcome for the benefit of future readers.

I concur 100%. Probably a shoe-in this time.

What probably whacked you the last time was the in and out of the country bit.

Love the "straight" bit. Does ICA ask that now? :P

I would reckon background checks might turn up that kind of information so I could see ICA using that as a tool. Consider. Single educated girl 30ish, wants PR. But is lez in nature. What good will she be to "nationbuilding" never to have a bun in the oven, but eventually will take up space by buying property with low head count per sq/m. They cannot control the lifestyles of their own citizens but they can certainly keep those lifestyles out if they have a mind to. They are micromanaging everything else, why not that to as well. Already you cannot run around nude in your own home if you happen to have your windows open, just in case somebody, who may be a voyeur happens to be spying into your windows and sees you.
