GIRO Payment

Post by chronoel » Mon, 04 Mar 2013 1:58 pm

Hi,

Our landlord said he wants us to pay our rent via GIRO.

How does this work.. Is it safe to do so?

What if they charge more than we agreed upon to pay each month?
And how about the receipt?

Thanks for your advise.

Regards

1. Safe enough.

2. GIRO arrangement can only done by you as the payee. So you won't 'accidentally' pay more. It is automatic at fixed amount. Make sure you keyed in the correct account number and amount to be deposited.

Just remember to cancel the GIRO payment when you are no longer staying there, otherwise your money will keep going out of your account every month without you realising it!

3. Receipt must be issued by landlord. And you can keep a printed copy of your GIRO transaction as proof of payment.

chronoel:

Just a small caution. Make sure the account you GIRO money too actually belongs to the owner stated in the rental contract. People will try anything.
