Apparently it works this way,
Employer will have to apply for a vaild work pass for the LTVP holder(spouse). As part of the submission, the LTVP card will be sent to MOM as part of the documents required for the processing of the said work pass. If the spouse at a later time decides to quit her job, the employer will cancel the work pass. If the LTVP is still valid(i.e not yet expired), it will be returned to the spouse. Otherwise they will have to reapply for the LTVP. I know this cause my wife (on LTVP) recently got a job under work permit and this was what was told to us by the employer and MOM.

this is also what I heard, as a friend got a job, while her 2 year LTVP was still valid, 6 months into her job, she quit her job and said she went back to LTVP .. never asked her .. your explanation makes it clear ..

Can anyone clarify, what will happen to my PR application (currently pending) if I convert my status from LTVP to S Pass?

There should be no issue with the application but you may need to write/email to ICA with details on your new employment. I am assuming that you are applying via Family Ties.
