Singapore Expat Land?

Post by carteki » Mon, 18 Feb 2013 5:57 pm

So what would happen if the SG Expat regulars to purchase an island (with internet!) large enough to create our own offline community ... (I know that JR8 has a picture of the place)
How would it work? Would we allow trolls?
Your thoughts?

we need scientists and chefs on that island to create delicious spicy food which doesn't come out in spurts of agony.

Hey, looks like I'm in demand then, since I'm both a scientist and a professionally trained chef ;) In fact cooking is totally a science, as an American might have it.

Read 'On Food and Cooking' by Harold McGee to join those dots (it's like the legendary old-time complete bible to the process of cooking/food-prep: and when you can understand why*, you can begin to try and master how).

*I'll give you one random example I faced this week. Why does melting dark chocolate in a 'bain-marie' require the gentlest heat, and why does too much heat cause the melting chocolate to 'split'.

This is actually not a joke man. I have been looking at buying an island and getting a few goats/sheep/chickens and farming for a living.

You can buy your own island for USD 50k did you know? Not the best locations (Nova Scotia, Maine etc). But hey... 50k for your own island....

Did a search for island under 500k USD:

http://www.privateislandsonline.com/isl ... D&=1&=7&=2

all wee need is 10 forum members with say 20k spare and enough money to make a living from the earth.
Who? What? How? Why? Where? When? Merde...

Better make damn sure it's an island with a fresh water source. That's usually the problem.
