Hi!
Do a lot of people have dogs in Singapore? We are used to living in a city where dogs are very common and was just wondering what's it like there
Also, does anyone have a bulldog and know how they fare?
Thanks
E

i've seen bull dogs in singapore. they looked fine. singaporeans love buying and abandoning pets. go get a pound dog if you don't mind the breed.

Thanks, we have already got an 18 months bulldog so were wondering how he would do there
Is it easy to find flats which accept dogs?
He is relatively obedient---bit like my kids

this is a list of banned dogs (existing ones in singapore are okay but must be muzzled in public):
As of August 1991, certain breeds of dogs (Category A animals) are not permitted entry into Singapore. These breeds are:-
Pit Bull - including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bulldog;
Akita;
Neapolitan Mastiff;
Tosa;
any crosses of any of Pit Bull, Akita, Neapolitan Mastiff or Tosa
here is a list of approved breeds for HDB flats:
http://www.ava.gov.sg/AnimalsPetSector/ ... breeds.htm
more info on dogs and importation, licensing, etc:
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=ca ... D5oQg4U9Yg
http://www.ava.gov.sg/AnimalsPetSector/ ... sPersonal/
for other types of residences, approval should be sought from the owner/landlord.

Hi! Sorry I was not too clear on my question
I have read all the dog's immigration procedures. He is an english bulldog so I kno we can import him etc etc.
I was more wondering about whether the "lifestyle" caters for dogs: I.em do
they allow them in flats? Restaurants? Etc
Also I worry about the heat and whether it would be easy to find a helper who can also take him for walks.
Thanks for any info you could provide!

Flats/condo, up to the owners of the property. Restaurants? NO. unless it's a restaurant with outdoor seating and even then, most do not. There are some however designed for dogs & their owners. One shopping centre outsie of the city centre, NEX, has two, I believe, roof top eating places specifically catering to dog owners and they also have a pair of outdoor dog runs on the roof, one for large dogs & one for toys. To access these places there is a solitary lift accessible from the ground floor which is "classed to carry dogs" so they don't scare the general public, nor do they have access to the shopping centre inside. It's also to prevent any unpleasant incounters with Muslims for which contact with dogs is specifically forbidden in most cases. There are probaly more around the west cost, e.g, Holland Village and maybe Vivo City (but I'm not familiar with those areas).
Also I worry about the heat and whether it would be easy to find a helper who can also take him for walks.
The dog will be uncomfortable with the heat and more specifically, the humidity. There are dog walkers available, but whether or not they are cost effective or even wise is up to ones own discretion. I wouldn't bring a pet that I couldn't take care of myself. But that's just me. Lots here hire fulltime livein maids and the dog duties alway end up falling on the maids while the owners are having their cocktails, etc.
Thanks for any info you could provide!

Also worth checking that the airline will fly your breed. A lot have restrictions on carrying snub nosed breeds because of potential breathing problems.
