PR application outside of Singapore

Post by smithjones » Fri, 15 Feb 2013 8:48 am

Hi all,

I am a Singapore citizen currently staying in Vancouver Canada with my spouse. I would like to apply a Singapore PR for my spouse.

Can this be done in Canada?

I also read that PR application has to be done in person in Singapore ICA. Original copies has to be submitted during the application. Even if I am applying in Singapore, do i have to show the original copy of my spouse passport if she is not even present in Singapore???

Thank you for the advice.

Use the search function to look for Saint's posts about this.

Another thing, the key is that you and your wife will live in Singapore of course.

Hi there,
I - very recently - went through essentially the same process. I'm a Canadian citizen, and my wife is Singaporean.

You have to show originals of everything for the applicant. In my case, as my wife was sponsoring me, I had to dig up my prior expired / cancelled Canadian passports. Plus all the usual originals as well (education certs, birth cert, etc etc).

Drop me a note if you have any questions.

Btw, it's good to see consular services for Singapore now available in both Toronto and Vancouver. This must be fairly recent as I recall about 2 years there was only an honorary consul based in Singapore covering Canada.
