Quotes
No idea who he is but love his brilliant quotes.
“The weirder you're going to behave, the more normal you should look. It works in reverse, too. When I see a kid with three or four rings in his nose, I know there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about that person.”
“The weirder you're going to behave, the more normal you should look. It works in reverse, too. When I see a kid with three or four rings in his nose, I know there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about that person.”
a fictitious character in a sitcom on couples and quarrels:
“Relationships don’t work the way they do on television and in the movies. 'Will they? Won’t they?' And then they finally do, and they’re happy forever.
Gimme a break. Nine out of ten of them end because they weren’t right for each other to begin with, and half of the ones who get married get divorced anyway, and I’m telling you right now, through all this stuff, I have not become a cynic, I haven’t.
Yes, I do happen to believe that love is mainly about pushing chocolate covered candies and, y’know, in some cultures, a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don’t care, because I do... believe in it.
Bottom line is: it’s couples that are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don’t let it take them down.
One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time. If it’s right, and they’re real lucky, one of them will say something.”

These are just the ones from the series that begin with the letters C and D.
I find some of them wonderfully astute, and/or thought-provoking.

I used to have it on a baseball cap, that I bought at an exhibition of hers:

You'd forget you were wearing it, and occasionally people* would dead-pan ask you 'So what is it that you want?', and I'd be like 'Huh?!'

* Example, a USCB&P (Immigration) guy scrutinising my passport at Miami airport.

His quotes are moving. Not sure who he is.

“In fact,I believe the reason why the Chinese failed to develop botany and zoology is that the Chinese scholar cannot stare coldly and unemotionally at a fish without immediately thinking of how it tastes in the mouth and wanting to eat it. The reason I don't trust Chinese surgeons is that I am afraid that when a Chinese surgeon cuts up my liver in search of a gall-stone, he may forget about the stone and put my liver in a frying pan.â€Â

I'd have thought the reason that Euros rather than Cinas did anything ground-breaking like demarcating Linnean classification, is because Euros are outward-lookers and pioneers. Whereas cinas are passive rule-abiders, imitators, and oppressed drones.
Oppress your own population into servitude: then import the talent (temporarily) that you've oppressed.
Funny ol' world eh.

I've so many windows/tabs open, that once again I'm going to do a tab-dump...

in the Pharmaceutical world, there is more money being spent on life lengthening and Sexual Enhancement research and less and less on Alzheimers and similar memory loss diseases.
What this means is. . in a few years time we are going to have more and more old folks who are gonna be 'perked' up with no memory of what need to be done once 'perked' up ..
Coat, Hat ...
