iPhone App for Singapore Expat

Postby freshmeat » Mon, 04 Feb 2013 1:57 pm

Apologies if this question has been asked before. I bought Tapatalk app with the hope I can read this forum on iPhone. Sadly, some set up is needed and I'm too dense to understand it. Are there other iPhone forum apps that work for this forum? Thanks.

Excuse my ignorance, but I can't see the appeal of having an app for everything. What's wrong with just using the browser on your iPhone to access the forum?

Good one!

It's an app that works with certain forums (XDA Developers, etc.). I've never seen the point myself, buit maybe I'm missing some scintillating feature that makes it more useful than just using a browser.

I've never heard of it until this thread, but I imagine it will resize various UI elements to be more mobile friendly. Minimize the need to pan around and zoom in on various buttons, etc.

Typical phpBB or vBulletin forums can install Tapatalk plugin (I'm no expert on this).

Tapatalk is nice to have if a person visits multiple forums. I use it to catch up on forums during lunch time. Once you install the app, you can search for your forums to see if they can be viewed through the app. Tapatalk also allow a forum to build their own app on top of their own technology (for a price I assume).

I wasn't initially sold on the app, but it's widely used and updated to the point where it's very handy to use ... much better than viewing forums on a browser on my android tablet/phone.

I'm not sure how this forum was built (once again, not my area of expertise) but it doesn't have many features commonly found on phpBB or vBulletin boards I visit.

The problem is that this board is phpBB 2, and is no longer supported. phpBB3 and others do have support for integrated mobile apps. That's why tapatalk doesn't work.
