Sg citizen stranded in india, want to come back;

Post by enslaved » Sun, 27 Jan 2013 2:03 pm

I was asked for help about know-hows about this. The situation is as follows:

A Singapore citizen by name, "X", who's father is also a citizen, but mother is an Indian. For some reasons, X and its (i.e., his/her) mother moved to India, when X was a kid, even before she/he started schooling. But supported by the father from Singapore. In the meantime, X's father got involved into a dirty business and under arrest in a foriegn country with which Singapore do not have any diplomatic relation.

Now X is a grown up child, and educated, and has got Singapore passport renewed recently.

Now It (he/she i.e., X) plans to come to Singapore. Looks like it has lost all family roots in Singapore due to disowning, and family disputes caused by the actions of its father.

Is there is any support mechanism from government body for such citizen, until he/she get a job?

(disclaimer: X is not personally known to me. I don't know anymore details.)

How old is he/she? Did he/she serve NS? Looks like you're going to have to let the gender cat out of the bag...

And out of curiosity, which countries does Singapore NOT have diplomatic relations with? There can't be that many...

he/she may be around 20. No diplomatic relation or no direct diplomatic relation. I too curious, but I have not been revealed of it.

"Matt Koshi ?!" May be... but I don't who he is.

Well if it's a he, he's f-cked for not serving NS properly.

If it's a she, pretty sure there is no direct 'support', but perhaps they could I duno, look for a job?

The fact that x's mother is indian and x has been living all this while in India, for all practical purposes x is an indian. Since mother is indian ask x to apply for indian passport and forget about his dream to "use" his Singapore passport.

IF the child is a male and liable for NS then I'd siuggest that answers your question about support. Get on a plane; come back - get pulled over in immigration and do two years on the governments shilling in BMT and military service. HE (I'm certain you're talking about a man) will be fed, clothed, sheltered, trained and paid for two years. Not a bad kick start to living in a country.

The person mentioned the passport got renewed recently.
Comon it cant be that bad....

I was OP I would get to Singapore, report to CMPB and enlist.

Wait out the enlistment by working as a bus driver or some occupation where they give dormitories ...

Rest is something they can work out.

I can't see from the facts of the matter that it is relevant that this blokes father is in a country with no dip relations with SG. Perhaps you can clarify why you mention this?

What would be more relevant is that SG does have an Embassy in India, but I cannot see your situation would be one to take up with them. Most people I read of here use their savings to set themselves in SG whilst looking for a job.
