PR Application - Planning in 2014

Post by mdaspro » Wed, 23 Jan 2013 6:45 pm

Hi
I have been checking this forum for a while.

Even though my profile is not good enough, just checking with your experienced knowledge.

1. Myself – 35 Yrs Male, Engineer, Working in MNC (Oil & Gas), 12 Yrs Exp. PMP certified, Pursuing Masters Degree at NTU. Currently on training in Overseas (EDB supported - in return I will have 2 yrs bond of working in Singapore).

2. Been here since 2010 Nov. Expecting to apply – Mid of 2014 (by the time I will have 3 tax assessment)

3. Pass – P2 (high end). Expecting to be P1 by next year at the time of application (if present P1 conditions remain same)

4. Wife – 35 Yrs, Degree, Completed diploma in Singapore (Distinction). Planning for Degree. On DP (working with LoC)

5. Household income – 100K+ pa (expecting to rise)

6. Race – Indian *

7. Children – 2 daughters** (studying in local school, one of the top in class)

* I know that my race is not favorable at current scenario. But I do admit that due to my fellow countrymen, the situation has got worsen. I know personally that some of them (not all) have abused the system. Totally agree. But SG Govt should scrutinize who deserve to have it. My opinion is that SG Govt should cancel the renew of the the PRship of whomsoever abused the system.

**Also I know that having daughter is not favorable (based on on-going discussion on this forum, not SG Govt opinion though). But again, I am proud of my daughters. Even though SG Govt. doesn't inform the reason of rejection, but if SG Govt rejects my application because of having daughter, I would happily accept that and I would not aspire of having SG PR again anymore.

Thanks.

You'd be a good candidate in many oil and gas friendly countries - Canada / Australia / USA. Screw Singapore if they don't want you.
Now I'm called PNGMK

PR Application approved

Post by mdaspro » Wed, 20 Feb 2019 11:49 am

Hi,
I have been a silent observer of this forum and got many useful information. Thanks for that. Finally I got approval of PR.

Few things I would like to share:
You can still get PR even if your earlier application was rejected with remark ‘your application is unsuccessful and you may continue to stay with current pass..” etc.
There is no significant change of my profile from my last application in 2016. But there were few changes in between 2014 & 2016 application (change of employer, completed masters etc but pay was reduced due to downturn in Oil & Gas market.)
Another thing - nothing to do with son or daughter, atleast for my case and I heard few similar cases as well.

So just keep on trying, continue to upgrade your profile, get recommendations from your colleagues / mentors and past & present employers etc.

Few things below doesn’t work in my opinion:
-Appeal by MP;
- Social work to get PR - if you wish to contribute socially, then just do it. Don’t use it for PR purpose.
- Keeping fund or investing etc

All the best for all future applicants.
Good luck!

Hello,

Thank you for updating us.

I am hoping to apply in Apr or Jun 2019.

Do you have any other tips?
So just keep on trying, continue to upgrade your profile, get recommendations from your colleagues / mentors and past & present employers etc.
How do you get recommendations from your colleagues/past employers? Anything in particular that the letter should state? Do you upload it as additional documents in the portal?

Looking forward to hear from your experience!

you should make friends with the singapore population enough so they will recommend you to be part of the population.

I've been here almost 4 years. My boyfriend is Singaporean and incidentally, I've made a lot of local friends. I met most of them at work or from community & church. Just wondering if I ask them for recommendation, what should it state and roughly how many will I need?

The general population isn't asked for their opinion and they are not recognized as valid recommendations like an employer or MP or other ranking individual here whose name is recognized by all races here. Don't waste people's time here if you don't have a clue.

1. There was no special format for recommendation letter
2. I submitted recommendation letters when applied with hardcopy last time. This time during online application I didn’t submit anything further
3. During hardcopy submission last time, ICA only accepted recommendation letters from Past/Present Employers and colleagues, not friends

As I said, ICA didn’t accept any of my local friend’s recommendation letter, only from colleagues & employers.

There is no such formula on how many you should get it.
