I am with Singtel and paya round 150 SGD a month for the copper wire Internet access (not fibre), full TV package and includes the rental of a number of movies every month.

I don't think thats too bad or maybe its just because I am comparing it to the UK.

Never had a problem with the Internet connection but the TV picture does drop out sometimes and it seems more frequently lately.

It's useful for us with a 2 year old in bed by 7pm which is maybe another reason why I think the charges are OK. We can only do so much conversation and chasing each other round the bedroom  :D

Probably should have said I am a huge football fan (soccer to some of you barbarians) and Singtel is very good value for that in my opinion. Not for everyone of course.

Also, don't you think satellite dishes look so ugly? Certainly does to me when I look at UK streets.

Yes they certainly do look ungainly, however if you live in an apartment, you can make do with 1 main dish and then branch out to multiple homes, all this is nowadays done by the DTH operators themselves.

IPTV sucks

Post by Lillou » Mon, 06 Jan 2014 10:33 pm

Watching TV with IPTV boxes brings home the saying that patience is a virtue. Where do I start? First, the box has difficulties connecting to the server. Even when it connects and when I begin to watch a program on any channel, I can rarely watch the ending. Life for me now is a guessing game. I guess the outcome of a detective serial, romance and unsurprisingly even news programs. The picture would suddenly freeze and the screen becomes a picture frame on my TV table. It is very frustrating for anybody to enjoy any kind of TV watching like this. Also, I cannot find a few channels in my bouquet- channels which the IPTV companies have clearly advertised they broadcast. I am never buying this product again.
