Grouchy Old Expat-
Regarding the import of Japanese parts, you may want to ask around a bit.
There is a huge amount of used Japanese car, truck, and marine engines flowing into Singapore (and all over the world). The Japanese government has long had a very tight set emission standards. It means scrapping a huge number of cars within 10 years. With a population of over 125 million people, well, that's a lot of engines.
I stopped by a yard in woodlands last week and they where unpacking 3 containers of engines, fresh off the ship. Check out the shops, they export the parts all over the region. Great recycling!
Your right, there is also a lot of COE scrapped vehicles and parts here as well.
Anybody need info on new diesel engines here feel free to msg me, I imported one a few months ago, and went through all the paperwork.
