Swimming Group n the East - Bedok Pool and my grand plan

Post by xiaopower » Wed, 23 Jan 2013 3:12 am

Hi everyone,

I noticed there are quite a number of post seeking swimming partners and probably ends up not going anywhere :)

I have been toying the idea to start a swim group for the past 2 years but havent put it in action (blame procrastination )

So here is my grand plan ( or at least I think it is :) )

- I will start swimming at Bedok Swimming Complex in the morning, possibly wednesday morning 8:15 am to 9:15 am - ( my work starts 10-ish )
- I will do sets ( each week will be diff ) example of a set:
400m warm up
8 X 100m on 2:30 min ( first 50 drills, 2nd 50 swim , 2 on each strokes )
4 X 100m on 2:00 min( freestyle , descending )
200m warm down
total = 2k
- or someday could be just a 2k swim non stop focusing on stroke.
- The sets would not be the same every time and we can focus on certain area(eg strokes, endurance , technique, turns ) during diff season ( in Asia context, diff quarter )
- I will try to get a pace clock ( google for Finis small Pace Clock ) when / if there are more people joining. Pace clock will help a lot, trust me :)
- if there are substantial crowd over time, we may need to book lanes , so we can split lanes between moderate and faster swimmers
- this group swim is for non profit . just pay entrance fees , or if we ever need to book lanes , then perphaps split the cost :)
- objective of the swim group is for health and fitness and potentially to beef up your endurance and stroke for your triathlon , biathlon , masters , aquathlon etc
- if this gets momentum, we can similarly start the group in west, north and central .
- I will start swimming alone regardless whether they are people joining :)

So if would like to join me , leave a comment in this post :) Thanks !

just keep swimming, just keep swimming

Darren
