Hi,
We have a 2 year EP, but won't actually move to Singapore until 2 months have expired on our EP. Is it possible to ask the LL to do a 10 month or 22 month 1st lease, with subsequent ones as the traditional 12 or 24 months? Are issues like this common?

Lease Duration
It is possible, but unusual to have contract durations other than multiples of 12 full months. You might have to persuade the landlord to agree to this - e.g. by offering a higher rent in exchange.
You are unlikely, though, to find such flexibility and goodwill through a property agent - so better search on your own!
