Looking for a Helper

Post by MummyNicholson » Wed, 09 Jan 2013 5:53 pm

I've been in Singapore for 2.5 years but am only now looking to get a live in helper with 2nd baby on the way (due in 4 weeks). I've been looking around and not having much luck so thought I'd see if anyone here is perhaps relocating and has a helper that is looking for employment. I want someone over 35 and one that has worked with western expat family and has experience with young kids (ie toddlers. newborn experience is beneficial but not essential). Any other tips on how to find a good maid would be welcome. I've been speaking to agencies but haven't found them overly helpful. They don't seem to listen to my criteria and those that are good seem to get snapped up very quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Most helpers are available on Sundays. You can walk in to Lucky Plaza on a sunday & conduct interviews. Do let them know in advance things which you might not allow ( eg, night outs, offs apart from official off days, etc ) & also the fcilities that you will provide. dnt forget to check their past experience with handling kids & last but not the least if they are comfortable to take help you at night with a new born coming in. Anyways, not sure if anything will matter if you are lucky to get a honest person. All the best!
