Deadpool on the next recession date?

Post by offshoreoildude » Wed, 02 Jan 2013 4:24 am

I've been through three recessions here and I've learnt that Sinkies memories seem very short. 1988/1996/2004. I wonder when the next one is hitting.... the gahem has been fighting it but it's starting to feel inevitable. My bet is 2014 - Q2.
Now I'm called PNGMK

I don't think it will be a Singapore only recession or Asia only recession. It has to be something really big screwup in the US, EU or China which will cause a recession here.

Although I believe we are currently already in a very low growth phase without much enthusiasm as far as our jobs or our ability to spend is concerned. :(

WSJ and LHL say now:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... _LeadStory
SINGAPORE—Singapore's prime minister signaled the city-state economy is in recession and faces only a grinding recovery in 2013, even as he appealed to the country's more altruistic side, insisting its people aren't money-grubbing "robots."
Not sure I agree with all of his sentiments

What I hadn't realised until recently was that the bulk of the electronics sector manufacturing here is directed towards PCs, excluding mobiles, laptops and tablets......just PCs.

Whilst some predict PCs will make a bit of a comeback from the current tablet fury, due to screen size and keyboards etc. for actually doing work on, the upturn may not be until later in 2014 when more businesses start to look at the demise of Win7 and a stable Win8 as a means of starting replacement.

Purely on this basis, the electronics sector must be on rocky shores.
