Some good insights here, thanks to all. I'm wondering if anyone knows if current country of citizenship matters in the application process for Singapore citizenship? That is, would there be a difference if (all other things being equal) I, an ethnic Chinese born in Hong Kong, were applying as a citizen of the USA vs. of the HK SAR? Thanks for any insights...

It likely does matter, but I'm personally not sure if using your US or HK citizenship is better. It probably mattered more when you applied for PR. What did you tell them then? You should use the same one.

It does not matter one bit since you are already a PR and you need to reside at least 6 years in Singapore before you can proceed to apply fo SG citizenship
You will lose all your foreign citizenship once your SG citizenship is approve as SG does not allow dual citizenship

Thanks all, I appreciate the replies. I applied my PR as a Hong Kong citizen so I guess that is what I will be applying as in a few years.
