MAID GET PR IN SINGAPORE?

Post by martincymru » Mon, 24 Dec 2012 10:31 am

Question: Let's assume the maid/domestic helper is from Philippines. Been here 17 years. Female.
Can she be granted PR? Website suggests not but court case in Hong Kong may influence the govt here ........?

i don't think being on WP gives the person any PR brownie points.

HK is not SG (and vice versa).

Exactly. Only happened once in HK and she had to go to court. Never ever going to happen here.

and in my counselling days, came across many a maid who got married to SC, even with MOM permission, and the closest they came to was Long Term (with no option to work .. )

However, with the LTSVP + .. maybe things have changed .

Have we heard of anyone who's gotten a LTSVP+? Seems like a great idea, but I'm not sure if they're actually giving them out...

atleast for those previously on WP, after 3 years of marriage, the chance of getting LTVP has improved - or atleast for one friend of mine, for his wife who was on WP, they got a LTVP, but .. guess what - valid for 6 months ..
