Where to Get a Good Resume Photo (2012/13)?
Where to Get a Good Resume Photo (2012/13)?
Does anyone know a place that has some kind of reputation for taking good resume photos?
There have been some threads about this, unfortunately it seems they're a bit outdated and/or the info isn't so good.
What I'm looking for is a place with resume photo-specific experience, who will say do X, wear Y, maybe brush it up professionally if necessary, whatever. Please only respond if you've used the place yourself for your own resume.
Thank you!

As long as you are applying to MNC's you don't need the photo as they are used to western spec.
But if applying for a local SME, you need to send a photo or you probably won't get invited to have a chat. Singaporeans are racist, pure and simple and there are not any equal employment opportunity laws here. Deal with it.
It also why you have to give your race, religion, age, gender or whether you plan on having any children in the near future. Welcome to Singapore.

As a footnote, if you are a female and applying to a Korean MNC, if you don't send a photo they will require one before any interview. They are the biggest chauvinists in Asia.

To answer your questions, I never liked doing it in a photo 'studios' because I find the photographers to be cold and they don't give advice like you hoped for.keyz81 wrote:Does anyone know a place that has some kind of reputation for taking good resume photos?

If you want your own hand in this, either go to Foto Express and choose 'Portrait' option. Or get a friend who is a hobbyist photographer and do it in your place or any place of your choice. That way you have free hand in how you want to do it and your photographer friend can help you advise on how you should wear/pose etc.
Hey SMS: I expected you as an HR person to know that there is no "Western Spec." on this!sundaymorningstaple wrote:As long as you are applying to MNC's you don't need the photo as they are used to western spec.
In North America it is practically forbidden to include a picture in your CV, while in most of Europe it is required. Singapore is inbetween, meaning you have to second-guess what the recruiting manager might prefer.

I have literally '000s of CV's from Europe & the US (all hard engineering, however) and I doubt that less than 5% of them have photos attached to them. But I'll take your word for it about Europe in general as Hard Engineering is but a small segment of the population and businesses there who are looking to work in the energy sector.
I stand chastised.

All the more reason why having a resume with photo is a bad idea to begin with. A typical SME 'ah pek' boss will consider a model face as an admin but gets shocked when she turns up for interview with a porky face.morenangpinay wrote:it was surprising for me to know that applicants here actually photoshop their cv photos.
And since they insist to meet an applicant before considering to hire, why the eff would they still want a photo in the CV!?
Note: SME issues. Tsk.
