Weekday lunches at Raffles Place

Post by trebleclef81 » Thu, 06 Dec 2012 11:12 am

Ok straight to the point - I'm local female, 32 years old. I'm working at Raffles Place.

At the risk of sounding like I have no friends here (and no, I'm not trying to be a SPG)....

I'm looking to widen my social circle, but there's a little bit of a chicken in me to turn up randomly by myself at FNDC events. If anyone is keen, we could meet up for lunch in Raffles Place area (perhaps someone who also turns up at FNDC event so I won't feel so weird if i DO turn up one of those Friday nights??).

My usual lunch spots are Joe & Dough, Salad Shop and the like (and I definitely enjoy my local duck rice and Ya Kun coffee too). so if anyone is as random out there, or just looking to have lunch companion, drop me a message. Either male/female companion appreciated, or if I receive enough responses we could meet up as a small group! Small group mainly because it's a pain in the arse looking for places to seat a big group during Raffles Place lunch hours.

Cheers

SPG = Sarong Party Girls

That's the Singaporean term for...escorts. That's the nice term to say it. And they are said to target specifically Ang Moh which is the Singaporean term for European/American/etc foreigners.

Not really escorts but more like local women, usually skanky, preying on white men. Preferably those who are rich or are on lucrative expat packages.

yes skanky is the word.

they used to be overtanned Chinese girls with bleached hair and lots of cleavage. With the way they look nowadays, they're whores really. Every white guy who comes to Singapore to work will be given an initiation to this concept. sometimes you can't tell if that's his maid or his wife :o

i mean no harm to my own species. I do have these sort of conversations with my white friends, take the piss out of them and have a laugh.

i'll look around to having lunch in this area. or coffee works too if you're pretty flexible

Hi, I just moved here a week ago (30/F/US), and I also work at Raffles Place. I noticed a lot of my co-workers do their own thing for lunch, so it would be nice to find some lunch friends. Is anyone still looking for someone to lunch with? I can't PM yet, so reply here or PM me. Thanks!
