Why are Singaporeans kicking up such a big fuss about foreigners trying to 'game' the system for personal gain?

Not out of loyalty as they so loudly like to proclaim under the guise of NS, but purely because they have no way or no idea how to game the system for their own self-benefit.

They'd all do it in an instant if they could, but most cannot and suddenly it becomes a character flaw in other nationalities because they can.

This +1 *100. I agree completely with this. Furthermore, as much of a hard time I give some posters here also looking to game the system (usually touting Masters from famous universities), I'm willing to admit that if I was from "CERTAIN PLACES" I'd be trying to game the system to get the freak out of their too. Now, I'd improve my English skills and try to not sound like a pompous asshole talking about a bullshit piece of paper on a forum, but I'd be asking which check boxes to check and what phase of the moon to submit under to improve my approval chances with the rest of them.

And honestly, if anyone on this forum wouldn't do the same, I'd call them a liar to their face.

What I personally find really annoying is the pompous and arrogant attitude of some people with overblown egos and sense of entitlement who game the system AND then broadcast to the world that they want to have their cake and eat it too. If what you're doing is bordering on the abusive and exploitative, at least have the decency to be discreet about it. At the very least be subtle, do some research and don't sound like an ignorant but 'educated' bastard who wants to be spoonfed.

Like religion, it should also be like a penis: good for you that you have one but you don't have to wave it in front of my face.
