Post by nickdutch » Thu, 22 Nov 2012 1:19 pm

Hey guys, im living in this city for a wile now and i have a hudge stack of coins for a bout 300 dollar in my house and need to get it changed in to paper money.

I only have no clue how and when i can do that. I hered that some banks have special times to do that but i cannot find that on the internet. I also dont have a Singapore bank account so i have no own bank here. I saw that there are coin machines but that is only for customers of DBS and POSB.

I live in Bueno Vista north. Hope that someone can help me. Need the cash bad. And before this weekend :P

All banks offer service to change coins to cash at a certain fee but Singapore Mint can do it for lower fee (subject to the value of coins changed):

I've personally changed my coins with a friendly coffee shop owner. Boy, they love coins and they will do so for no fee :P

Just wrap the coins in fixed denominations using paper/plastic wrap (like 100 10-cent coins for $10 in a roll) and label the rolls, for easy counting, and you will be good to go.

Approach any coffee shop owner or hawker and ask them if they would like to change notes for coins. If you are game, bring the rolls of coins with you along as you ask.

Hint: You're in BV right? There are plenty of coffee shops, hawker centres and food courts for you to try. There are even markets nearby. Good luck!
