Ibook availability in Singapore

Post by nayoung.mathiesen » Wed, 21 Nov 2012 11:15 pm

Hi,
I have been trying to read ibooks using my Ipad. A lot of the best ibook sources say that they are not available in Singapore. For example kindle for Ipad and similar apps. Anyone who has experience with this and have solutions to share?

Go into iTunes and switch to the iTunes store for the US. Buy an iTunes giftcard to reload the account, and pick a fake US Address.

If you don't know one, feel free to use this one:

1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014
USA

Thanks, I was wondering about that. Does the credit card also have to be a US one in that case?

that's a good question. In theory, yes. I have had moderate success on various sites just using a US billing address and my Singapore card. I think this varies by site and card.

For iTunes, you don't need a credit card though. Someone can buy you iTunes Giftcards electronically (with a US account) or you can even buy the hardcopy cards in many stores. If you read Chinese, you can get them for a good price on alibaba.

BTW, I found out why so many e-book related applications are not available in Singapore. The government owned Media Corp owns its own ibook company called Ilovebooks.com
