Hi. I have done a search within the forum and I have googled my time away and even tried ringing acquaintances (who are not answering the 'phone). So i come to post...
We are not long in Singapore and ready to make our first (of at least 3)oversea trips. We just have a DBS debit VISA card.
We need travel insurance, preferably for a year.
Our employer provides excellent medical travel insurance, including kidnapping, but doesn't provide anything else. HR not helpful with suggestions.
We are Australian nationals. When I looked at World Nomads, we are required to put in the country where we are permanent residents, but we don't have PR status here.
with Travel Insurance Direct, does anyone know if they cover Australians not living in Australia but for travel to australia? Not clear on the website.
Am i even asking the right questions as to where to find travel insurance? We previously used the one linked to a credit card but this is no longer available to us.
Thanks if you can help guide me in the right direction. Personal experience welcomed - positive and negative- with providers that might fit the bill with our circumstances as outlined in this post.
Edited, because this has ended up in the moving and relocating to singapore section, even though I started my search in the travel sub- forum. I am unsure how to move this post to the correct area.

Re: travel insurance
So you are currently in Singapore on a work visa? That means you're eligible to take travel insurance with your residence address in Singapore.wheaten wrote:Hi. That also means that you have quite a number of options actually.
I have no financial affiliation to any insurance company, but I am using ACE Got-It-Covered travel insurance. It is for a year and renewable and for only between SGD88 to 128 per year, depending if you have any credit card promotion linked to that insurance group. So far so good, claims have been timely but you need to have clear communication with the customer service to avoid misunderstanding (which I previously). Just renewed it for another year not long ago. Otherwise you can look at AXA, etc.
There is also travel insurance on per-trip basis. Even Air Asia and Tiger Airways have such policies. But it is more expensive so you are better off with yearly policies.

Don't worry if you do not have credit card; I'm mentioning it because some insurance companies have promotions for certain credit cards. Having said that, you can actually use debit card (or even GIRO) to pay for your travel insurance, subjective to the payment options required.wheaten wrote:thanks for the quick reply![]()
As ours is only a visa debit card, i don't think linking is an option. Getting a credit card involves my husband having the time to be at the bank, as his is the employment pass. And time he doesn't have. I will look into you recommendation.
