My basic medical degree is not applicable for registration with SMC.So, I have got a job offer of 5k-6k/month. In case I pass FRCR after few months in jobs, will they increase my salary directly as my degree would be applicable for conditional registration ??

Is the salary given after deducting taxes ??

Taxes here are billed around July~Aug in the year following the year of earning. There is no PAYE system in Singapore (although you can set up a GIRO account to pay estimated taxes if you prefer).

As to increasing your salary, I'd say that is between you and your employer. do not take anything for granted however. I'd be sure you have it in black & white on your contract, else you might be in for a rude awakening.

Upgrade from Temporary Registration to Conditional Registration is very subjective and depends a lot on your supervising doctor's reviews, as I understand.

You will have a pay revision if you complete FRCR, but .. its never going to match what the Local Graduates get paid.

That's what I know ....

NNI is reputed.

How much ?

I think you need to do your own research on that score.

About 4.5 k plus fixed housing allowance plus shift allowances for night calls. Look for a gross of about 6k to 7k.

That is If your degree can get you a T.Reg for a clinical associate position.

Maybe higher if you are in the approved university list.

Nope, housing is not provided.

Hi..My husband recently obtained a position in Singapore as a regional manager and currently holds an EP. We have collectively made a decision to move to Singapore with me obtaining a spouse dependent visa. I'm a doctor from Malaysia with 4 years of experience (excluding my housemanship) in ObGyn.
I graduated from a college in Malaysia which isn't recognized by the SMC.
I was told to apply for a job as a clinical associate holding a temporary registration.
Can I know how do I about this?
Thank you

Clinical associate in ObGyn ? Your choices are limited to SGH and KKH I guess.

You need to go the Singhealth / NHG website and look for openings.

Is your degree recognised by Malaysian Medical Council ?

To improve your chances, start reading up for MRCOG Part 1

YEs my degree is recognized by the Malaysian Medical Council. I'm actually sitting for the MRCOG paper in September.
If i may ask, what's the difference between a clinical associate and a doctor..?

If you are recognised by Malaysian Medical Council, it will be a bit of smooth sailing, provided there's an opening in the hospitals.

What's the Difference ? my 2 cents, NONE

Clinical associates are the equivalent of HOs. More or like 'unrecognised degree, but Singapore needs you to fill the gap .. ' but .. the government is trying to bring back Singaporeans to reduce CAs, but it is not working yet ..

You get rotated through the OT, 24 hour clinic, NICU and wards, with 1 weekly night call, which may come on weekend as well. Though you will be compensated for the extra hours, it may be tiring for some.

I know it a bit cos of 3 ObGyns who are Clinical Associates here, and a few more in other disciplines.

Good luck on your MRCOG, I think the March exams are in KL, next to the PJ Hilton ? September exams are in Singapore.

PS, our member Taxico may be able to expand a bit on this subject ;)

Look up Singhealth and National Healthcare, most likely KKH or SGH. Few other public hospitals have maternity wards.

Private hospitals will rarely be able to get a CA.

Look up taxico and Pm him. He is more on the ball.

Good luck.
