While I agree there is a huge difference between visiting and living somewhere, I definitely believe it can`t harm visiting the place prior to moving.
You get the feel of the place a bit and you can see whether you initially like it or not. It does not have to mean much, but it brings down your expectations more in line with the reality.
And Singapore is not hard to get to, so I see no reason why not to check it out if you haven`t already...

hmmmm - what an amazingly concerning post - you say you cannot lump managers into a single category - but you seem to be doing fine in lumping ethnicities into single categories .... or am I missing something here?? and 'even managers from the same race can be different from each other ' - really ??? how enlightened i now feel. Sorry bro75, but I really challenge your opinions

I did not mean to lump them into single category although it does seem that way from my post due to the small sampling size of bosses that I experienced. OP complained that Singapore bosses are too strict. I disagree only with this generalization of the Singapore boss (because some can be strict).

It's difficult when you don't like your boss isn't it? I think we've probably all been in that situation before regardless of where we live and work. They say that people don't leave jobs, they leave managers....

Hope the getting into trouble was a one-off and that things get better. :)
