Less than in the UK, for sure. France has quite an African population (esp. North and West African). Spain ditto, and note that some of this might be down to proximity as well (i.e. 1st stopping point heading north in Europe). Holland has an notable Indon community. Portugal... never been, but my sole Portugese friend is originally (white) Angolan.
Yet Germany is the best economy in Europe, so wondering if immigrants really contribute or not, haha.
Yes, one wonders!
Why not try Googling on racial breakdown statistics for the counties you mention. Try the same for Hamburg too, I'd be interested in what you might find out!

Portugal I know has a huge Goan population. There are more Goans in Portugal ratiowise than Indians in UK, that is because they treated Goans as Portuguese citizens when it was a colony, no other country ever extended that kind of privilege to its colony. Even now, when there is a football match Goans in India support Portugal

I am sure Portugal has very close ties with brazil as well.

The problem is the Western face of the racism is much more aggressive. While the level of racist sentiments is probably higher in Singapore it is rather unlikely you will face here any direct offenses. In Europe, in less multicultural, cosmopolitan places you may easily be a victim of direct verbal or even physical insults.JR8 wrote:The other matter that has not been raised is racism. Germany never succeeded in gaining an empire, despite trying. As a result you will find a great deal fewer 'colonials' in even Berlin, than by means of comparison you would in just about any UK city. There is a Turkish community in Berlin, but any others that might exist are invisible. I do not recall the last time that I saw a 'coloured person', at least 6 months. And it's ignorance that breeds prejudice.
Apart from the Turkish population (Berlin is the third biggest Turkish city!), most other foreigners are visibly indistinguishable from Germans. there are also no ethnic enclaves like Chinatowns. But foreigner ratios are lower in Berlin and Hamburg than in some smaller industrial cities like Düsseldorf or Stuttgart, due to foreign worker population. (This does not mean, though, that English is more common there!)
