Australian looking for job in Shipping Industry in Singapore

Hi,
I have travelled to Singapore a number of times this year.
I have been considering moving there to live for a couple of years or longer. I have been looking at job opportunties in Singapore, more so in the Container Shipping Industry as I have eleven years experience behind me in that field.
If anyone has any information regarding searching for a job in this industry or any contacts, I would appreciate receiving them.

Try contacting the Ports of Singapore Authority (PSA)

They are the mafia of potrs in Singapore and if they are not what you are after they could be a good source to gte lists of registered companies that do business through the port which may also be of help to you.

Additionally Batam, Indonesia and Johor Bahru, Malaysia - Singapore's direct neighbours do a lot of shipping and are heavily involved in maritime works so they may also hold some ineterest for you.

By the way, what sort of container experience do you have? Handling? Operations? Empties? Stowage planning? 3PL?

Most maritime-related jobs are not listed, so call the companies directly. As for PSA, you have to download and print out their application form and post it to them. Another port you may want to try is Jurong Port http://www.jp.com.sg or Port of Tanjung Pelepas, which is half owned by Maersk and located just across the causeway in Johor Baruh (Malaysia) http://www.ptp.com.my

Singapore has a dynamic shipping and freight forwarding industry which is currently very bullish. It's likely these companies would be employing more staff. Search under "Singapore freight forwarding" and you write directly to them. Good luck!
