Shaws Preschool at Katong

No affliation just a satisfied parent who has got a lot of information from the forums and wants to share

When we moved from the US, I was really worried about finding a good daycare/preschool for my then 2.5 year old. We had a misstep – we ended up in a daycare that we did not like. And we re-started our search and choose Shaws at Boscombe.
Located in Katong, this school has been keeping us very happy the past 6+ months. I loved how I was told upfront that the kids learn the fun way. In an education obsessed Singapore I was relieved to hear that. I have nothing against “Tiger Moms”

Thanks for the info on Shaws. But i can't review any more on it as their website is down / under construction at the moment.

Not sure if you would be able to answer any of my questions in the meantime?

My son is now 14 months old (phew where has the time gone!) and just finding his feet with walking at the moment. I am wanting him to find a school / preschool / kindergarden from 18 months onwards for a couple of mornings a week for the first few months. Do Shaws start from 18 months old or even younger?

Are parents allowed to attend the first couple of sessions to help little one adapt? He has never been in childcare and i am a stay at home/ work at home mum. So its going to be a big shock to his system, but one i am sure he will go well with as he wants to socialise so much but more of a handover session so i know he's ok and i can go with the knowledge he's enjoying it and having fun.

I think the Shaws program starts at 18 months and yes it is mandatory for one parent to attend the first week or so with the child to get them settled in. It depends on the speed in which your child transitions. I put in my daughter when she was 2.5 years old and already used to daycare since she was 15 months so I just went in 1 full day and 1/2 of the next day. She settled in easily but it varies with the kid.
