Since I need to get both a new laptop and a new phone in the coming months the question would be, and best to you maybe, which first?

I am planing to get the new Nokia on WP8 and a suitable W8 laptop, maybe another Toshiba since they will soon be bringing a new Salellite model with touch screen.

I am hopefull of multiple calendar sync which is currently troublesome.

The streamlining of a single OS hopefully can solve this.......my only issue maybe that my MS Live login is my GMail address?? Do you think I would need to set up a new one? Please say no ;)
I hear they're phasing out Live Messenger in favor of Skype so you may also want to look into that if you use either service.

I'm already running Beta6.0 and have both my Skype and MSN contacts together.

My issue is the set-up, trying to get everything syncing properly and for the first time being able to separate my work and personal calendars and have them copied over to the phone without running too many services.

I think my main issue is that my work email doesn't support calendar or IMAP so it is difficult to sync. I had it half working on my N9 but maybe the problem was my setting on the laptop was already 5yrs old so if i start everything now from the beginning it might work more smoothly......my only feeling is i need to start with the settings on the laptop rather than the phone.

update: i've decided not to proceed with windows 8 for now as i have 68GB (from new without any pre-installed nag ware) to back up and i am too stingy to buy another hard disk to do that.

i'm just gonna leave win 8 sleeping in my computer for now.

i purchased office 2010 this tuesday past and i've started using it regularly.

as i'm getting the upgrade to 2013 for free, i'll do the windows 8 + office 2013 upgrade down the road when it is in dire need of a re-install.

oh my god. this computer is fast. the webpages load so quickly. i should have bought it sooner.

I always wait at least a year before upgrading to any new Windows version. Let everyone iron the bugs out first.

Win 8 seems to be still in beta mode. You would be far better off sticking to win 7 for a while longer.

Better yet—get a mac! :)

Why would you think that? Win8 runs fine for me on two PCs and Laptop, and WinRT on my Surface...

Horses for courses but you wouldn't find a Mac in my house!

How long did it take you, and others, to get used to the new UI?? I've been on WP8 for a month now, and have played on & off with Win8 laptops in the stores so thought I was prepared.........hmmm, not really.

It's quite a challenge to get used to - I just got a new laptop yesterday afternoon.

Maybe because the Acer I ended up with (contrary to me going out looking for either only a Toshiba or Sony) comes packed with so much stuff pre-installed that maybe in the last 24hrs I've been a bit overloaded?

When it comes to software, especially operating systems, being the first is rarely a great user experiences. I always recommend waiting until at least the first Service Pack (bug fixes) has been released. This at least ensure that all of the initial troublesome issues have been fixed, and it allows other software vendors time to fix their applications for the new OS.
