M1 4G LTE launch: any experience?

Post by romx » Sat, 03 Nov 2012 9:13 pm

Somebody have any experience with new M1's 4G LTE service?
Any thoughts, comments, recommendations? Is it better/worse than SingTel 4G now?

I have Singtel, coworker has M1. M1 has much better coverage currently. But when you have Singtel signal, it's significantly faster. If you believe Singtel, their coverage will be 100% island wide in the next six months. Believing Singtel is a big commitment though.

Note that all testing was with the "Speedtest" app on iPhone 5s.

Thank you for your reply.
I find today a very interesting review at a hardwarezone site with results of speed testing along the MRT lines:

http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/feature- ... age-tested

So, looks pretty useful for my tasks.
Looking for more comments of M1 users.

Speed

From tests it seems that SingTel is significantly faster. Coverage will be very soon nationwide too.

Anything 'speedtest' related is notoriously unreliable, so don't use that as the single source of truth for network speeds.

The acid test is using it in places where your daily routine takes you - and measuring performance in a variety of different places - although I'm not sure of the practicalities of doing that!

This connections is still new currently, there maybe testing on and off. My friend of mind using singtel also encounter 4G connectivity recently. Log a case with them if you encounter disruptions.

There is enough speed for me, even at 'good old 3G', much more important for me it's a possibility to get a contract for a 6 month only

The whole thing is still new, every now and then it goes off and then comes back on.
The speed's impressive but drains battery life like anything but i guess we all saw that coming some point in time.
