Post by flying_carpet » Thu, 01 Nov 2012 8:21 pm

Hi all, I am moving apartment soon from one part of the island to another. Any recommendations for reliable and reasonably priced moving companies? I would need the company to pack, move and unpack for me. thanks.

hello,

a bit late - I don't know if your move already took place?
If not: I have used two moving companies here, Asian Tigers and Santa Fe.

I can recommend Asian Tigers, they did a good pre-move-survey and estimate on how long the move would take, everything went smoothly, they were very good at touching base with us during the move, and hardly anything was broken.

With Santa Fe, I had a very bad experience and would warn everybody not to use them:
They contract out to dishonest moving crews who betrayed us by presenting false invoices, claiming we would get reimbursed by Santa Fe headquarters. Then Santa Fe told us (after we had to chase them for a reply over both email and phone repeatedly!) they didn't know the company name on the invoice and they never worked with a company of this name - so no reimbursement.
Obviously, this was a scam of the moving crew they subcontracted, but this should never happen in the first place, and it certainly should not simply be left to the client to pay!

Additionally, their team was very slow (slower than estimated in the pre-move-survey), and at one point disappeared for more than 3 hours, supposedly on the way from old to new home - both within singapore. We had to call the Santa Fe office to find out where the moving truck and crew were - and when they finally reached the new place, they needed to take a "lunch break" before doing anything else (at 4pm, after being 3 hours late).

So, in the future it will be Asian Tigers for us! :)
